Why does the sun shine more than the moon?
Why don't we float when we hold a balloon?
Why is the grass not as tall as a tree?
I wonder as I sit in the shade in June
Why does a rooster not crow at noon?
Why can't we eat soup with a fork, not a spoon?
Why must the river flow into the sea?
These questions plague me this afternoon
I could probably find out from a wealthy tycoon
Or a science professor who'd sing me a tune
But for now I think I'll let things be
Having fun as I wonder in the shade in June

i loved it! it sort of reminds me of the poem i wrote last year that got me an A! (it was about a bus though) i like yours much better. it runs more smoothly. mine isn't as original...
ReplyDeleteAs i sit on this cold, smelly bus
Everything around me is rust, rust, rust
I look out the window and what do i see
A bunch of cold, shivering cows staring back at me
The bus starts once more
And I'm thinking about folklore
Two, Three, Four, Five
Counting the bee farms outside
My imagination moves on, as with the bus
and i've found I'm once more thinking about rust, rust, rust
Very nice. I like the cows. (as always) ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd it IS original and awesome. Simple yet powerful.
Hey, not everything's perfect, but it's pretty good.

I am looking back at these early poems, and all I can think about is how much talent you possessed coming into this project, and how you continue to amaze and stun us all as you continually build on your skill to create new and amazing works of art. I hope that you do keep at this blog into the future so that we can all watch and be amazed at your journey.
